Just got back from an 8 day, 3k mile motorcycle jaunt from Pheonix to California’s mountains, valleys, and coasts. It ended up being a rather spontaneous journey (pre-departure plans were for 3-4 days of 1600 miles) that certainly included a few surprises along the way. I’m going to be working on the Journey Report (especially since it’s 110 outside!) (more…)
This past weekend several friends and I went riding (specifically from Phoenix up to Yarnell and back via Wickenburg and then Vulture Mine Rd). I’m not much a group rider, but (more…)
En route back to Phoenix w/my buds Russ, Curt, and Paul after enjoying a spirited ride up the Beeline Hwy, thru Payson, Pine, Camp Verde (you ‘Zonies know the loop!). Last time I rode with Paul was in late August when I met him and a few other friends from Phoenix in Durango, CO (those who follow my travels know I was returning from my 15,000 mile Alaska journey). While in Durango, Paul’s bike (a BMW 1200S) acquired a nail in the rear tire. While in the process of “reaming” the tire for repair roadside, the bike fell off (more…)
I’m still frolicking in the fall foliage here in the Vermont/New Hampshire area. Current Journey Reports can be found at this link: HERE
I took this photo yesterday (more…)
I’ve been way to busy frolicking and posting Journey Reports on my website to “update” this blog. I’m currently in New Hampshire on what I am calling the “Fall Foliage Frolic”. Since I’m riding my FJR motorcycle, I wanted to call it the “FJR Fall Foliage Frolic” but the Matriarch voted that down saying it was too difficult to pronounce. Actually I think her exact words were “Saying that real fast might sound as if you are drunk!”
For those that land on the blog here rather than the SeizeTheJourney.com website, a direct (more…)
Well, I’ve been a bit busy since the last blog posting here. Actually, all posts have been on my website (www.SeizeTheJourney.com) regarding my 15,000 mile journey from Phoenix to Alaska and back (daily reports: HERE). Geez, what an adventure! I’m going to figure out the exact numbers but I can safely guess that 95% of those 15k miles were non-interstate miles (aka “slab”) and (more…)
No report the last two days since I had no access to an internet connection. I’m checking in from just north of Sikanni, BC (yeah, I know, everyone is thinking “where’s that?”).
Thankfully Webmaster is now back from vacation so all the previous Journey Reports can be found on the website: HERE
More to come!

WOW, what a journey! Spent yesterday enjoying North Cascades National Park and the “Cascade Loop” scenic byway (Hwy 20). My “detour-itis” flared so I then hit Mt Baker and ran the “Mt. Baker Scenic Byway”… wonderful roads and scenery, and being that it was a weekday (Tues) as well as the day before a holiday I had the entire road to myself going up Baker and very little on the Cascades Hwy. I watched the sun set atop (more…)
Numerous people asked me in Port Angeles over the past 2 days when I would be catching the ferry to head to AK. I replied I was a rider, not a ferry passenger, and if I had wanted to ride a boat to AK I would have taken a cruise. To confuse people even more (more…)
I don’t know why I’m surprised as I get ready to end this day that the GPS shows 200 miles; I really did plan to have a “light day” hanging out in the Port Angeles, WA/Olympic National Park area, catching up on a few things, etc., but it didn’t exactly work out that way. Ok, so maybe it rarely does…. my friends laugh when I say I’m just going to go for a little ride. It’s never about the total miles for me but the type of miles. Flogging the Strom (more…)
