WICKED wind… & a long winded LEO

Filed under: Uncategorized — AGirl @ 8:46 pm
I’ve encounted some fairly wicked wind in my years and miles of riding motorcycles. Never, ever have I experienced or even heard about what happened to me yesterday here in AZ. I had an appointment on the other side of Phoenix so I took one of my smaller sportbikes, a Honda CBR F2. When I don’t need to haul anything with me I prefer to take one of the 600’s (I have a pair); perfect for zipping around running errands, light, great gas mileage. Anyway, as I was coming back from the appt (more…)

The claimed “8 week turnaround” for renewing your US Passport is true! I mailed mine for renewal Jan 23rd and received the new one March 24th… dang, the Passport folks are on it! (Ahem, Dad, get your’s submitted so we can GO!!)                             Two other additions for my upcoming travels (more…)

This is a sight I rarely see in AZ:

===> ALASKA <===

I really don’t care much for the planning aspects of riding. Maybe it’s b/c riding 50,000+ miles annually means there is quite a bit involved to keep rolling (especially maintenance). Since I have traveled in every US state mutiple times I don’t really need to do much planning (hence my 5 day pre-departure planning for my US Four Corner Tour last Sept) given I know generally how long it will take me to get places, weather/terrain, traffic issues, etc. (more…)

Got back from a GREAT weekend of riding in CA (Palomar Mountain) and took a FANTASTIC day ride (350 miles) today to…

Yup, that’s the Mexico border (across from Sonoyta).   I know, I know, I’m getting backed up on Journey Reports… but they’ll be worth waiting for…. especially the pics from today.

RIGHT WRIST classes are now in session….

Filed under: Uncategorized — AGirl @ 5:48 pm
I’m taking two once-a-week classes. The first one is a motorcycle Skill Enhancement class which is run by my good friends on the Arizona Precision Drill Team. This 6 week course meets once a week for 2 hours and is offered by the Drill Team as a community service, meaning it is free of charge and open to anyone wanting to improve their skills operating a motorcycle (hard to believe, huh?). Bodies & Benelli

Filed under: Uncategorized — AGirl @ 2:01 am

Back from the dead bodies, more accurately the “Body World3″ exhibit here in Phoenix. All I can say is: W-O-W!! People, if you haven’t been get yourself over to the Phoenix Science Center. If you’re a rider anywhere near here then it’d be a great reason to take advantage of the upper 70’s weather and roll on into the Valley of the Sun for a super unique event. In the past I’ve witnessed several autopsies (yeah, I know, I tend to lead an unusual life) so the sight of gross anatomy wasn’t “OOOOOh, Ahhhh” for me, but the incredible artistic display of the pieces and parts preserved within entire bodies was just amazing…. and not just bodies laying flat, but posing in actual physical stances (such as skateboarding, gymnastics, jumping, bending here and there, etc). The 4 friends I attended the exhibit with were all as impressed as I was and I think we each left with a greater appreciation for the dynamic details of parts which constitue the whole. If the TRAVELING EXHIBITS come to a city near you (ahem, Oldgoat!!) then I’d highly recommend seeing it!

So, I followed up yesterday’s rarity with another one today: (more on this babino later!):

Yes, it’s a 2007 Benelli TNT Cafe Racer 1130. Who needs a generic ho-hum Gixxer or R1 sportbike when you can have a $16,000 bling-bling Italian rocket?? Besides, you’ll be ready for the day when the passing lane has a passing lane!
