May 21, 2007 - Last Hoorah In MA (At Least For This Spring!)

This was my last day in MA, I'm heading out tomorrow (Tues, 05/22).  After yesterday's rainy run to Boston and dealing with all the traffic and city issues, including snarling faces and people strung out on stress, I needed a spirited ride for the mind and soul.

The need was met by riding up to the Mohawk Trail (MA-Hwy 2 in northern MA near the VT line) and doing a few up and back runs and, of course, stopping along the way to soak in the sunshine and peaceful surroundings... a far cry from yesterday's city experience.    If you're ever in this area of the country put this road on your must do list, preferably mid-weekday when there is zero traffic and LEOs!    I'm heading out of MA tomorrow and will head south. I'll be arriving the 84 year old family Matriarch's house in Chattanooga, TN by this weekend (Memorial Day weekend).

A few pics from today's short run:

(Thanks to DAR state worker Joe for the great conversation on the bridge!  )

During my first run up the Mohawk Trail and out of the corner of my eye (I was looking through a turn), I caught a glimpse of what can only be described as a black Volkswagen crossing the road!  HOLY CRAP!!!    It was very near this sign:

View beyond hairpin...

... and that can be had from here too:
