Reports for individual days of this journey are
at the bottom of this page!
Ten days ago I arrived back in the garage of my winter home located outside Phoenix, AZ having just returned
from a 15,000 mile adventure to Alaska (of course, the long way). Those who have been following my travels
and Journey Reports from the Great White North (all are posted:
HERE), are aware that I only
returned to AZ so I could drop off the motorcycle I was riding and sort through my gear in preparation for the
next journey. No other reason would explain why a Snowbird would be there during the summer's blazing
inferno! During the time I was there, Phoenix set a new record of 30 consecutive days where the mercury
exceeded 110 degrees.
Oh, and by the way, those of you who are thinking "but it's a dry heat" have either never actually visited "The
Valley of the Sun" and therefore have believed a Chamber of Commerce lie, or you actually live in the heat, in
which case I'm voting your brain cells that process concepts like "hot" and "livability" have been fried.
I have flown back to Nashville, TN and reunited with one of my other motorcycles that I'll be riding to New
England area shortly (a 2007 Yamaha FJR 1300 which I acquired during the
"F-A-R Journey"
if it matters to anyone). Actually, I should say that "we" will be riding since "Mo" (the Moose) will be
joining me as well. (It just seemed wrong to leave a Moose in the desert, especially since I am heading
towards moose country).
If you don't know Mo then you will soon enough. You'll also know that I'm very excited about seeing the
spectacular fall colors in Vermont and New Hampshire!
It is said that only one other place in the world (some place in Japan) equals the intense color display found
in VT/NH. I have been to the region many times, most recently this past spring during
"East Coast 2007"
as well as last year's
"USA Four Corners Tour",
but I've never traveled to the area specifically to see the leaves. So, I'm about to change that with
the upcoming "Fall Foliage Frolic"…WOO-HOO!!
Those of you who follow my travels will not be the least bit surprised to know I won't be taking a direct
route to New England nor will the journey be about riding a motorcycle. Journey Reports and photos will
be posted in progress.
Thanks again for all the support. Mo and I both appreciate it.
