Reporting from Fall Creek Falls State Park

An epic day for riding today - almost 300mi of two lane highway roads in what my Dad is telling me from his prone and yawning position across the room is the Upper Cumberland Plateau region of TN.  Roads alternated between seriously tight twisties and sweepers.  To my surprise traffic was nonexistent and my V1 (radar) slept all day.

We did indeed get the stamp at "Big South Fork" and let me say that if you are into horse camping then this place is for you.  Wow, the accomodations predominately cater to camping with your equine friend and range from primitive to luxury accomodations (horse need a message too ya know).

The Ranger at Big South Fork said we were only 45mi from another stamp at the "Obed Wild and Scenic River."  My friends will tell you I'll never pass up something "wild and scenic" so we headed out for Wartburg, TN.  On the way out of Big South Fork (is it just me or does this name remind you of "Big Rock Candy Mountain"-??) I caught 2 men out of the corner of my eye in the local General Store parking lot struggling to pull something out of the back of their boat.  As I got closer I couldn't believe what I was seeing.  This is what I saw, all 41lbs of it:

The fish was so big they had come to the store to use their heavy duty scale.  "Henry" was proud of his catch and asked me if I wanted "to hold it.  Mind you I was in full riding gear INCLUDING my gloves when he extended this invitation.  I had visions of reporting to friends, family, and Stromtroopers... "well, my journey has ended with an injury caused by dropping a 40lb fish on my leg" (does Joe Rocket gear cover this type of impact?) so I just let him hang on to Mr.Catfish:

Made it down to Obed for the stamp....

...then to our final destination, Fall Creek Falls State Park.  Ya'll know how much I love to ride but for some reason seeing that fish was the highlight of my day.
