EAST COAST 2009
May 12, 2009 - Stone Mountain, GA to Cashiers, NC

I departed Stone Mountain, GA this morning headed for Cashiers, NC but, of course, not by a direct route.  FULL REPORT WILL BE POSTED SOON! (I'm enjoying my time with the Matriarch in the mountains (hills?) at current....

From the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandi website: “A Mandir is a Hindu place of worship – a haven for spirituality and a place of paramount peace.  It is also a center vibrant with social, cultural, and spiritual activities.  The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was inaugurated in August of 2007 after only 17 months of construction time utilizing 1.3 million volunteer hours.  The Mandir is comprised of 3 types of stone (Turkish Limestone, Italian marble, and Indian pink sandstone).  More than 34,000 individual pieces were carved by hand in India, shipped to the USA and assembled in Lilburn like a giant 3-D puzzle.”

Bagged a National Park Passport stamp here:

(If you're not sure what this “NPS” madness is about, click: THIS After 1700 miles of interstate I was more than ready for the super twisty and scenic Russell-Brasstown National Scenic Byway!

Yeah, I said twisty....

(For you topo mapsters, the scale is 350')

Mark, you asked about my rear Tourance tire so here ya go!:

I met Marc & Chantell from Montreal (who are Prez & VP of the BMW-MOA up there in Canuck land):

(Hope you guys had a great ride and survived the “zoo” at Deals Gap!)

The Matriarch will be shocked... 2 pics of me in the same day!:

The 86 year old Matriarch neglected to tell me I'd be needing to ride off-road to find our meeting place!:

Made it to the “cabin”, thankfully dry and during daylight so that I didn't hear the Matriarch announce (as she normally does when I roll in from riding in the rain): “You look like a drowned rat... can't you find a new recreation?!”.
