I rode for over 5 hours in rain prior to my arrival yesterday in
“Parc du Saguenay” (a national park near
L'Anse-Saint-Jean, Quebec). It rained off and on during the night as well, but thankfully, by the
time I was ready to start breaking down camp this morning the rain stopped. I was able to depart
my campsite dry AND warm thanks to owning very good gear as well as taking advantage of the facilities, namely this:
![]() It's been a long day and full of adventure! The below photos are of my journey today from Parc du Saguenay to Saint-Siméon, where I caught a ferry over to Rivière-du-Loup. I spent the day riding the outer edge of the Gaspe Peninsula along Rt-132, which is where I took most of the photos below. I'm currently in Forillion National Park, staying at a wonderful hostel. I'll be leaving tomorrow to ride the rest of the Gaspe and then in to New Brunswick. The photos will have to suffice until I can find the time and web access to get the full Journey Report posted. On a sad note, my camera is not working properly and half the time it doesn't work at all. Given the wear and tear I've put on it, I'm actually rather surprised it's lasted as long as it has. Unfortunately, I missed a great photo opportunity up close with a moose this evening because of the malfunction. The photos I did get are barely discernible but it is indeed a moose (below). Since I'm in the middle of nowhere I won't be replacing the camera anytime soon (I'm lucky to find fuel for the bike and for me!) but hopefully I can coax a few more photos out of it before it completely fails. I've camped in quite a few parks, first I've seen this garbage system (oddly, the first site to the left was disability accessible).
